How HearBack protects you
You probably landed here from a rental post somewhere else. Here is exactly what this site does and does not do.
For renters
- No application fees through HearBack, ever.If a listing shows a fee, it is the provider's own fee, disclosed — we never collect it.
- Providers never see your live profile. They receive a point-in-time copy of exactly what you choose to submit, for one listing, after you consent. Editing your profile later never changes what was submitted.
- You see the criteria before sharing anything sensitive. Rent, deposit, lease terms, and the provider's standards are on the listing page before you type a thing.
- You always get an answer. Every application reaches a final status. If a listing closes, you are told — no black holes.
- You can withdraw or revoke. Withdrawing removes you from consideration; revoking cuts off future access to your revocable materials.
- Never pay a deposit or rent before a lease exists. Nobody legitimate asks you to wire money, use gift cards, or pay through Zelle to "hold" a unit. If anyone does — including through this site's messages — report it.
For housing providers
- Renters book showings with verified email and phone — no more text tag with strangers.
- Applications arrive complete and consented, as a snapshot you can rely on.
- Your response habits (response time, showings kept) appear as plain facts — there are no star ratings here, for either side.
What our badges mean
Contact verified — email and phone confirmed. Identity checked — a government-ID check passed; this does not prove they have the right to lease the unit. Property authority checked — documentation of the right to lease was reviewed (coming later; no listing shows this today).
We never blur these levels together, and trust is never for sale.

Report a listing or behavior — suspected scams, payment pressure, discrimination, spam. A person reviews every report; reports are never public and never attributed to you.
